It’s April, and you know what that means? (other than snow in Michigan???) Peyton’s birthday!! Our big girl will be FIVE at the end of the month. I swear she was just born, and then I blinked, and here we are!
When I asked her what kind of party she wanted, she was torn between a princess party (where everyone would be required to dress up as a princess, except for daddy of course, who could be a prince) and another art party. Her birthday party last year was such a blast, but not entirely something I want to re-create. We were set on a princess theme, when the birthday-girl-to-be decided she wanted a pony for her birthday. Fortunately for our team, our home owners association won’t allow farm animals. She then settled on a pony party. I vetoed a My Little Pony party, because I can only handle so much Pinky Pie before I lose my mind. Luckily, she was ok with “regular brown horsies”. Thus, the Hold Your Horses, Peyton is Five party was born!
And now for the fun part: the planning! This year is especially fun, because she’s taking an interest! She picked out her napkins, and wants a mint cake with strawberry frosting – don’t worry, there will be cupcakes for everyone else 😉
I’ve been rounding up supplies for the past week, and am so excited with how things are coming together!
number balloon | horse balloon | ombre candles | horse toy | sparkler candle | cake stand (similar one on sale!) | banner | horse cupcake topper | napkins
I have some leftover gold spray paint from another project, and plan on spray painting the two plastic horses gold. One will be the ballon weight, and the other will be Peyton’s strawberry mint cake topper! Hanna, of HoorayEveryday, always comes through for us with my crazy party ideas! She’s put together a custom birthday banner for the party. I don’t think I’ve hosted a party without one of her cake toppers or banners in YEARS. She’s amazing to work with, and goes above and beyond for custom orders (and trust me, if she made the paint party banner happen, she can do anything!)
And while we can’t buy her a pony for her birthday present, a little birdie told me David might have a surprise for her at the party!! But you’ll have to wait and see 😉
I cannot wait to see how it all comes together!
eek!! Me, too!
Major color crush!!
Fortunately, I have until next year until P will probably want to call all the shots 😉
Cannot wait to see what the surprise is!!! You’re such a fun mom!
Thanks, lady!!
What a fun party theme!
