Festive Weekend

I am seriously loving this warm(ish) fall we are having here in Michigan! The weekend felt like a small heat wave, and we made the most of it! Saturday was full of an early soccer game, a birthday party, doing hair for Homecoming, then watching football on the patio with homemade chili (that turned out to be more like soup, but oh well, you can’t win them all).

Sunday, we woke up early to meet our friends, in hopes of beating the crazies to the pumpkin patch…only to get there and realize it was closed. So naturally, we headed to Krispy Kreme to formulate a backup plan. We then headed to the closest orchard that had a hayride, since we had already promised the kids one. Apparently, it was the only place open Sunday, and literally all of west Michigan was there. We skipped out on donuts, since the line was out the door and to the road. They had a small petting zoo, which the kids loved. We were there about an hour before it opened (and yes, the line was already that long!), so the kids all got to watch the farmers un-load the animals. When they pulled out the alpaca, Peyton yelled, “GUYS! A CAMEL!”

We ended up being first in line for the hayride – we were those people lining up way early, but hey, no shame in our game. London loved it, and halfway through, we realized it was her first ever hayride! Peyton kept loudly talking about all the strangers on the ride with us, and our poor horses were so slow, the hayride behind us nearly caught up. Peyton and her friend were hanging out the back of our wagon with hay, trying to get the other horses to eat. At least they were entertained!

We came home, and enjoyed Sunday football on the patio outside with friends and yummy snacks. It was such a full weekend, and Monday is feeling like a vacation since P is at school, and London is napping!
