In the last year, we have had to get creative when it comes to making holidays special and memorable with the girls. We were excited last spring to make “new” traditions (since our usual Easter plans were canceled last year, and have been canceled for this year). One thing that has stayed the same for us, is celebrating Easter with The Beginner’s Bible!
Celebrating Easter with The Beginner’s Bible
While we don’t go all out around here with Easter-themed books, we do love The Beginner’s Bible and their collection of Easter titles!
For the girls, the brightly colored illustrations keep them engaged, and the easy-to-understand text makes it perfect for Addy and London! One of Addy’s favorites is The Beginner’s Bible My Bible Friends! This board book features the bright, bold illustrations Addy loves, but also has fun tabs with faces of key Bible characters’ faces (like Jesus, Moses, Mary, and more!)
Addy and I have made a habit of snuggling up on the couch to read in the morning, after we get the big girls on the bus. To kick off the Easter season, we read The Beginner’s Bible The Very First Easter.
I am so impressed with how well this book explains the concept of the death and resurrection of Jesus to younger kids. Introducing the girls to the Bible stories, and understanding the reason we celebrate Easter is so important to us. There’s more to Easter than the bunny and a yard full of plastic eggs, kids!
Kids will be kids, and sometimes getting the girls to sit and read with me is a struggle – sometimes they just need something to do. Thankfully, we have books like The Beginner’s Bible Learn Your Letters. This interactive board book is another one of Addy’s favorites!
The Beginner’s Bible Learn Your Letters introduces and encourages interest in letters and simple words for little ones. (Spoiler alert: this is one of my favorites, too!)
We flipped through the pages together, and found a few words that we considered “Easter” words. This was a fun activity for Addy, since it worked on comprehension, too! We found words like “cross” and “tomb”, and worked on those letters. The Beginner’s Bible Learn Your Letters also wipes clean, so we can do this again and again (and it works for other holidays, like Christmas, too!)
For more hands-on fun, The Beginner’s Bible Come Celebrate Easter Sticker and Activity Book and the All About Jesus Sticker and Activity Book are great options! The Beginner’s Bible Come Celebrate Easter Sticker and Activity Book might be my favorite of the two, as it really does a great job of bringing the story of Jesus, his ministry, his final days to life in an engaging way for the girls. The stickers in these activity books are reusable, and what kid doesn’t love stickers?! These would make a GREAT addition to the Easter Baskets, and will keep the kiddos busy while you whip up brunch, mom 😉
