Better late than never! I am finally able to sit down and share Peyton’s 8th Birthday Camp-In Party. The original plan was to have the girls camp out in the backyard, but it SNOWED, so we turned it into a camp-in party!
The DIYs
Let’s jump in with the DIY parts of the party!
The balloon garland was inspired by the one I made for Adaline’s birthday party, but SO much easier to inflate thanks to the new Zuru Bunch O Balloons air-filled inflater. They sent us one for review, and it is amazing! They’re the company that makes the self-sealing water balloons that you can do in big bunches! Two thumbs up! For this garland, I snipped off the strings, and twisted the balloons around fishing line.
Since this was a birthday camp-in, I wanted to bring the stars inside! With the help of about a dozen command hooks, I strung curtain lights along the wall, and covered them with sheer white curtains! The effect was really cool at night!
And last, but not least, the cake! This was a two-layer funfetti cake, that I covered with buttercream rosettes. This was actually my first time piping flowers, but when the birthday girl requests a rainbow flower cake, that’s what she gets!
The Treat Bags
We worked with Stuck on You for these fun birthday camp-in party favors. We stuck with the camp theme, and the duffel bags were perfect. Each bag had the girls’ names on them.
Inside each duffel bag, the girls had a monogrammed water bottle, hair ties (save with code: SAVE10), these ridiculous unicorn sleep masks (that they loved!!), a flash light, a handful of glow sticks, and personalized pajamas. The personalized pajamas were SUCH a hit! The girls kept running to the neighbor boys’ houses and showing them off! You can score $5 off when you order here!
The Tent
We used our actual tent for the camp-in party. There are a ton of options for adorable teepees and inside sleepovers, but with a last minute switch to inside, we worked with what we had! It worked out, and was the perfect size for our massive purple air mattress daybed!
We filled the tent with soft blankets, like this chunky throw and Peyton’s favorite Stella and Lu blanket, and a TON of throw pillows.
We set up the Cinemood inside the tent, so the girls could have their own little movie. The Cinemood is user-friendly enough that the girls could work it themselves.
Camp-In Fun
The morning after the sleepover, we headed outside for a fun painting craft from Redd Willow Art! This was so much fun. We mixed a few acrylic paints over a little canvas, and the results were so pretty. The sets from Redd Willow Art came with everything we needed – and clean-up was a snap. For painting with a bunch of kids, it was mess-free!
Overall, it was the happiest birthday for our new 8 year old! She had a blast at her birthday camp-in party!
This is such a unique birthday party theme and I like that you filled it with so much fun!
Oh thanks so much!!! XO
What a fun party! A camp-in! How unique!
Thanks so much!!
