If you follow along on Instagram, then you know we spent a few days in Vegas! David had a work thing, and I was able to tag along. Fun fact: the last time I was away for even just an overnight, Peyton was an only child. Talk about crazy! The trip was much needed, even though it was super fast.
We arrived to the Paris hotel Tuesday a little before noon local time. The hotel is VERY theme-oriented (like the Venetian), but the rooms are modern, and there are a bunch of elevators separated by floors (like 4-15, and 16-20 etc), so we never had to wait too long for an elevator. The sun was out and it was so warm, so it was a definite pool day. It was super windy, so my girlfriend and I decided to wander and find a fun lunch spot. We ended up at Beer Park at Paris. I highly recommend this spot! It’s right on the strip, so you have great views, they have an amazing menu, and even beer cocktails! They have about 10,000 TVs, shuffle board, giant jenga, and giant connect four. If I wasn’t so dead from catching our 7am flight, I would have wanted to spend more time there.
We walked across the street to the mall that’s connected to Planet Hollywood, and I got the deal of the week! I snagged two BCBG dresses on super clearance for $16 each!!
Right below Beer Park, is a fun restaurant called Hexx. On one half, its a bar/fine dining, with a great patio location right on the strip, that’s where we ate Tuesday night. The food was good, not great. The other half is a chocolate/candy shop! On Wednesday, I grabbed a mint chocolate chip milkshake from there (so yum!), but I am still regretting not getting one of their custom ice cream cookie sandwiches!
Wednesday, I woke up at 5am because time changes are rough. I ended up walking to Fashion Show Mall from our hotel. I won’t lie – it was a long ass walk. But Dave had meetings, and I kind of liked the idea of wandering solo. It’s a nice break from having the girls or David all up in my grill. I am convinced Vegas has the best shopping, there is such a greta mix of malls and stores! At the mall, I hit Zara, Nordstrom (where I bought this awesome pleated duster!), and the Disney Store. I took the long walk back, and wandered in and out of the fancy shops at the Venetian and some of the tacky, tourist-y type shops. I think I might have walked 5 miles – and based on how my feet felt that night, it could have been 6!
David and I walked to Caesar’s that night, and gambled for a little bit before we had dinner at Mesa Grill. This was AMAZING. I’m a huge seafood fan, and we had the ahi tuna nachos for an appetizer and I had the mango tuna steak for my entree. So. Damn. Good. They are also known for their margaritas!
After dinner, we had VIP at Absinthe. Which meant we got to enter the tent through a telephone booth, and sat front row. It also meant we got wet! They came at us with a tarp during one act, and it helped, so we weren’t soaked. It was SUCH a great show! I was laughing so hard I almost cried, and then there were moments of “OMG NO WAY HOW IS THAT HAPPENING!” It had in-the-round seating and the stage was tiny – which gave it a very intimate feel. I liked it a lot more than any Cirque show I have seen – but it is reaaaaaaally risque. Like. Dirty. Like, if you don’t dirty jokes and get offended easily, it probably isn’t for you. But we give it two giant thumbs up!
After the show, we walked back to our hotel, stopping at a few other hotels to gamble a bit. David and I had a deal that if he won $6,000 gambling, we would go to Disney for Peyton’s spring break. While we aren’t leaving in the negative, we will not be heading to Florida 😉
Such a fun and much-needed break, but I am definitely happy to be home! And now, to tackle 40 loads of laundry!

How fun! We never go anywhere, now that we have kids. I don’t mean it in a bitter way, but it would be nice for a quick trip like you did! Glad you had fun!

What a fun getaway! SOOOO important to take time and recharge! My husband and I go on one or two solo trips a year for that exact reason. We are lucky enough to have parents that live nearby and are willing to stay with our kids!
