If you follow me on GoodReads, then you know I’ve been on a major reading kick. And if you don’t follow me there, you should!! 😉 I wanted to pop in today with a quick review of the last few books I read. Let’s go!
Look in the Mirror
We read Look in the Mirror by Catherine Steadman for book club. It was my pick, and it did not disappoint! Wow. Just wow. Look in the Mirror was a heart-pounding page turner that kept me guessing the whole time.

Maria is a nanny to the ultra-wealthy, but her latest job might isn’t adding up – it’s very suspicious. When her client never shows up with his children, it gets more and more eerie. There’s a locked room she was forbid to enter, and suddenly it’s unlocked… with a blinking button. Should Maria push it?
Meanwhile, Nina’s father just passed away, and she receives an interesting letter about a property he owned in the BVI (one that she never knew about). When Nina gets there, it gets weirder and weirder. Especially when she finds out there’s a locked room downstairs that no one can open. DUN DUN DUN!
I loved the dueling timelines between Maria and Nina, and the epilogue was just brilliant. I am a big fan of Steadman, but she outdid herself with this one! Look in the Mirror was one of my favorite reads of 2024!
A Curse of Breath and Blood
A Curse of Breath and Blood was an absolute page turner. I have nothing but praise for KW Foster’s breakthrough novel. It had some sexy lord of the rings meets inception-vibes — I was absolutely here for it.

Aelia is a queen turned mercenary, who is forced to team up with her ex-lover in a quest to save her sister from Gideon; Aelia’s powerful husband. (Talk about plot twist!!)
All of the characters have dark pasts and secrets – which made the story very fun for the reader! The last third of the book is intense. Murders and battles and betrayals, oh my!
And then Foster bitch-slapped me with that epilogue 🫣😬😬 I cannot wait to read more in KW Foster’s exciting series!! *Thanks to the author for the ARC!
All The Little Raindrops
All the Little Raindrop by Mia Sheridan was utterly gripping. It starts out with a human-trafficking situation. Think: teenagers in ages. It then blossoms into a very dark twisted game, pushing these two captives to the edge.

The two hostages are seemingly unrelated, but as the story progresses, we learn their connection isn’t entirely random, This as full of twists and turns, and once it hit the mid-way part, I thought it was over and ready for a happy ending… but just got even more intense (if that was even possible?)
I think this should probably come with a few trigger warnings, but I loved every minute! All The Little Raindrops was a wild ride that I cannot recommend enough!
None of This Is True
None of This is True by Lisa Jewell came out a while ago, and I just got around to listening to it! And again, wow. Just wow. I’m a big fan of Jewell, and None of This is True did not disappoint.
I loved the ending. That’s all I can say 🤐 What a dark, twisty novel that will keep your guessing until the very end (and even wondering long after you’ve finished!!) I highly recommend listening to this one on audio, because the clips from the podcasts and interviews are so compelling!
The Serial Killer Guide to San Fransisco
I listened to The Serial Killer Guide to San Fransisco in 2 stretches – like, I even wore my Beats in the grocery store because I didn’t want to stop.
A copycat killer is striking in San Francisco, and true crime lover and serial killer tour guide, Capri finds herself right in the middle of it. Turns out the killer the new copy cat is copying is none other than Capri’s grandfather.
There’s lots of red herrings and a few super cringy moments with the detective and Capri, and I couldn’t handle how many times “drew themselves up to their full height” was said while listening, but other than that, the pacing was great, and there was a handful of likely suspects. Capri finds herself at the top of the suspect list, and needs to solve the case — so that aspect was fun to “solve” it alongside her.
A solid 4, as I enjoyed it and genuinely wanted to know how The Serial Killer Guide to San Fransisco ended, but I wouldn’t call it a groundbreaking read that will haunt me for days after I’ve finished it! *thanks to #netgalley for the audio ARC
Bad Tourists
Bad Tourists by Caro Carver was a fast paced, vacation thriller that will keep you guessing!
Three friends go to the Maldives to celebrate Darcy’s divorce. We get a little background on her friend Kate, who was involved in the horrifying slaughter of 6 people, while she was in a guest house. We soon learn all 3 women are tied together by that horrific event. When the women befriend young Jade at the resort, things get wild. Jade is on her honeymoon, and when she is spotted with a giant bruise on her face, all signs point to her volatile new husband, Rob. And that’s where things get wild! You won’t see where things are going, until it’s happening!!
Bad Tourists was a fun twist on a “who done it” murder story! *Thanks to #NetGalley for the ARC for review.
The Paris Widow
The Paris Widow was like The Last Thing He Told Me meets Jason Bourne!
The Paris Widow had me turning pages from the get-go! It’s an action packed story of an Adam and Stella, traveling through Europe, when a bomb goes off, and Stella’s entire world is turned upside down.
When French police tell her that her husband was the target of the attack, Stella can’t believe it, and doesn’t know who to turn to and where to go.
The story is DEEP, and very well developed. I honestly had no idea where it was going and loved every minute of it! * I received and arc for review via NetGalley
