Spring is just around the corner, and with it comes one of my favorite holidays ever: Easter! I love the sense of renewal that comes along with spring. Longer days, flowers blooming, that stubborn-Michigan snow finally melting. We will be home for Easter this year, whereas it’s fallen during Spring Break the last few years — so I am wasting no time getting the house and the girls ready for the Easter Season. My favorite way of celebrating the Easter story is to pull out our cherished Easter books.
Celebrating the Easter Story: Books for All Ages
The majority of the books in our Easter collection are from Zonderkidz. Knowing and celebrating the Easter story is so important for our family, and these colorful and engaging books make it fun for younger children and new readers to learn a bit more, and understand the reason we celebrate Easter.
For toddlers, preschoolers, and very early readers, Snuggle Time Easter Stories is a wonderful board book. It features passages and bible verses, along side beautifully illustrated pictures.
Bunny Finds Easter is another great board book for little ones. Bunny is searching for the true meaning of Easter, and the story is told through rhymes, so it’s a fun read for me, and the girls enjoy it too! Bunny Finds Easter just released in February, so if you’re looking for a great giftable book, I can almost guarantee they won’t have this one yet!! 😉
How cute is this set of Easter Egg-Shaped Board Books? The set contains 3 books, and would make a perfect gift or celebration for the toddlers and young preschoolers. How fun would it be to have these egg books poking out of an Easter Basket??
Again, these JUST released in February, and they’re SO cute. Addy loved the die cut pages – they’re perfect for little hands!
One of my all-time favorite books for celebrating the Easter season is The Berenstain Bears and the Easter Story.
This story tells the true meaning of Easter. This is a great one to read aloud with the girls. They love that it has stickers inside, and I love the accuracy of the Easter Story, as well as the Questions and Activities on the back page, so we can talk a bit about what we read.
We also have The Berenstain Bears The Very First Easter, and love it! It does a great job of telling the Easter story in a way children can understand!
London had a looooooot of questions this year, and actually told me the stories made her sad. “How could they be so mean to Jesus?” she had asked. I could tell she was really trying to process what we had read together.
We turned to The Beginner’s Bible, and read the actual Resurrection Story together. The colorful illustrations in The Beginner’s Bible better convey the joy and the celebration of the resurrection. (If you own The Beginner’s Bible already, you can head to page 453 for the resurrection story!)
The Jesus Storybook Bible also covers the Easter Story, with beautiful illustrations and great detail! The visuals in this Bible really help pull the stories together.
You can also check out the Zonderkidz Easter Gift Guide on Amazon! It has even more gift ideas for your kiddos’ Easter Baskets, or you can pick up these books to celebrate the season as you count down to Easter Sunday!
