Nothing gets us in the holiday spirit better than a festive movie night – no matter the holiday! The other night, the girls and I set up the twinkle lights outside, and cozied up on the couch to watch Hocus Pocus together in the backyard. That is, we watched about half of the movie, before we got way too cold and had to move the party inside. Ah, pure Michigan 😉

The girls and I made a list of our favorite family-friendly Halloween movies, and can’t wait to share them with you!
Family-Friendly Halloween Movies
Peyton’s additions to the list are Girl VS Monster and Invisible Sister. Both are Disney Channel Originals, and perfect if you have a 9 year old girl 😉
We love Goosebumps and The House with a Clock in its Walls, but they do have some parts that might be scary for younger kiddos. That said, Addy freaking loves them!! ???? They both star Jack Black, so mom and dad will get a few giggles!
Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown will forever be on my list. They’re classics.
Adaline loves Toy Story of Terror, Curious George Halloween Boo Fest, and Spooky the Square Pumpkin (but that one didn’t make mom’s list ????)
London comes in clutch with the creepy picks: Coraline and Nightmare Before Christmas. She also wanted The Corpse Bride on the list, but that’s another mom just can’t get on board with. Call me old school!
Movie Night Must Haves
A few of our must-haves for a festive movie night are:
- popcorn
- string lights
- lots of cozy blankets and pillows (love this ghost pillow, too!)
- a scented candle for seasonal vibes
- and, if you’re in Michigan, trying to have an outside movie night in the fall, hand warmers haha
Next up on our Fall Bucket List: Carving pumpkins + roasting the seeds! Woo hoo! Don’t you just love this time of year? When your to-do list consists of things like “hang string lights and carve pumpkins” ???? Truly magical!
