For her 5th birthday, London requested an ice cream shoppe party. It was such a fun and colorful theme to bring to life, and her ear-to-ear smile made it all worth it! I am sharing a few shots of the decor, sweets, and fun here, with links to everything below!
Decor
For decor, I wanted to make a statement with a bright balloon garland. Target sells some fun balloon sets. I have a tutorial saved in my “Party” highlights on Instagram.
I have gotten so many uses out of this sequin table cloth! It’s an absolute favorite of mine, and works with basically any theme.
Food
Lunch
For food, we kept it simple with a platter from Jimmy Johns and a variety of GoGo squeeZ pouches. These were such a hit with the kids!
Cake
I made all of the desserts, and a step-by-step video is saved in my “Cakes” Highlight on Instagram. I wanted everything to be colorful, but pastels – the vibe I get when I imagine a retro Ice Cream Shoppe!
The cake itself was a 3 layer cherry chip cake (London’s request), and an ombre of purple. I baked the ice cream cone cupcakes right in the cones – so cool. And then with the extra cake mix and frosting, I did a purple ombre set of donuts. I will link all the baking tools below:
Ice Cream Bar
You can’t have an Ice Cream Shoppe party without an ice cream bar! London picked her 3 favorite ice cream flavors: Cotton Candy, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Neapolitan. For toppings, we had a variety of sauces, cones/bowls, and a ton of sprinkles.
Fun & Games
Every Ice Cream Shoppe needs a truck! We had a cute Ice Cream Truck set up. If you haven’t heard of Antsy Pants, be ready for your mind to blow! These are little pipes, that you can configure a number of ways, and then simply cover with one of their many (adorable!) covers. Bam! We also have the cafe and lemonade stand sets.
We love Plus Plus blocks, and had a few of the Snow Cone sets out for the kids to play with, as well as a fun math ice cream cone game!
It had rained nonstop the day before, so the yard was pretty wet. The kids ended up spending the majority of the time looking for frogs and jumping in mud. Oh, to be a kid!
Favors
I found the cutest favor boxes on Etsy, and filled them with “a scoop of ice cream” which was actually scented dough from our favorite shop and a squishy!
