When I think of a classic date night downtown, I instantly think of dinner and a show. Dave and I headed downtown last weekend for a fun twist on this classic date night for dinner with The Murder Mystery Company!
Before we knew it, you get thrown into a night of mystery and couldn’t help but look over our shoulders at shady suspects. Many people arrived in costume, too, which made the night more exciting! As we were seated, a cast member appeared with a white doctor’s coat, a name tag, and a binder of info for me to memorize — I was IN the show. Instead of panicking, I was pumped. Small secret: I am pretty competitive.
So there, we are, in the lower level of The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck in The Amway Grand Plaza, and I am now a murder suspect in “Best Laid Plans”, which is set in the 1930s, and we are all guests to the estate of Sir Warren Peace.
I won’t spoil the ending for you, but we were divided into teams by our tables, as we watched the murder unfold (it was really funny, too, not morbid and dark!) Then, between our amazing 3 course meal, we were set out to interrogate suspects, bribe people for info, and have a lot of fun in between. The cast made their rounds before the first course, teasing everyone while remaining in character.
Like I said, I won’t spoil the ending, but it was quite a plot twist – I never saw it coming!!
At the end, we submitted our team guess for who the killer was. Shocker, we got last place. They actually gave us a certificate that said “Dead Last Place” – hilarious. BUT! I did win best actress. I fully committed to my role, and it was SO much fun.
The Murder Mystery Company does murder mystery shows publicly at 25 locations across the nation. They also offer private shows for anyone who wants us to provide entertainment for a birthday party, anniversary, or more!

This looks like a great idea for when my
In-laws are in town!
Oh yes!!! They’d have a blast!
