We had a super festive weekend, and we didn’t want it to end! Saturday, we went to the Santa Parade, then Sunday morning, we had brunch with Santa (and our families) at the country club. We also celebrated St. Nicholas Day over the weekend (it’s a Catholic thing, and apparently, if you didn’t grow up through Catholic school, like me, then you haven’t heard of it). Basically, you leave a shoe outside your door at night, and St. Nicholas comes. If you’ve been good, you get candy or a small present left in your shoe, if you were bad, you’ll end up with a rock. Or worse, a stick. Peyton insisted St. Nicholas wouldn’t be able to find her bedroom door in the dark, so she and London left their shoes by the Christmas tree.
Fortunately, they were both good!
Peyton and London both cried and refused to sit on Santa’s lap, but after we ate brunch, Peyton was feeling bold. This Santa was SO good. He had a real beard, and let Peyton give it a little tug (she might have given it a big tug, sorry, Santa!), and he held her hands and listened to what she wanted for Christmas (the Barbie RV and Kitty Surprise), then invited her up onto his lap for a photo. AND SHE SMILED. It was our first EVER successful Santa photo for P. It truly was a Christmas Miracle.
The tree was set up in a corner, surrounded by windows, which made taking pictures in front of it nearly impossible. But we tried!
We then used what was left of our Sunday to get the Christmas lights up, with help from some of our (younger and much taller) friends from the soccer team.
Wising you a happy Monday!!
