I hope you all had a safe and fun Fourth of July! (I also hope your husbands were all successful in the “lit firework hustle”, and didn’t overuse the word “MURRICA”)
My good friend and her son spent the day with us, and we my brother and Dave’s dad came out for the parade. And the weather couldn’t have been more perfect! My parents came over for a cookout and a pool day. Our perfect day was followed by an extremely buggy night for fireworks. All the fireworks sulfur in the world couldn’t have stopped them from feasting on us. The city also changed where they were setting fireworks off from? And we missed the memo. So we ended up with a giant maple tree in our way – awesome. So we grabbed our chairs and blankets, and sprinted to a nearby bank parking lot and had a pretty awesome view, aside from the bright orange truck that’s in all of our photos.
Sunday, we headed to the east side of the state for a cookout and pool party at my aunt and uncle’s house. Always fun to see all the littlest cousins get together and play!
My absolute favorite part of the entire weekend was during the parade. Peyton was loving waving at every car, in hopes they would toss candy to her. One car threw a GIGANTIC handful right at her feet, and as she bent to pick it up, she yelled, “I LOVE AMERICA!!!” Which was adorable and hilarious at the same time.
As I write this, I am nagging David to finish packing, because in true guy-fashion, we are leaving for an overnight trip to a friend’s cottage in an hour, and he hasn’t packed anything. Fingers crossed the perfect Michigan summer weather continues!!
And Happy Monday!!

Does your husband do fireworks? I feel like you said that last year? We just do the grocery store ones. None that go up in the air. Glad no one lost an arm this holiday! Have a fun trip up north!

This was the first year Peyton handled the noise of the parade and the fireworks! Sensitive ears, I guess? She had a blast this year though! Fingers crossed for you guys next year!! 😉
