This weekend was a fun one! We got together with the neighbors for the annual Kentucky Derby Party. The hood goes all out with betting on the horses in a loud, mint julep induced auction.
Our horses all lost, although the last place horse got 15% of the pot, we got the least worst of! Boo! Some of the guys (Dave included) got together the night before and formed a cartel for bidding, and that horse won them all a solid chunk of change! Yay!
I made these killer mint julep pudding shots . I added green food coloring, and opted for the mini jell-o shot containers with tops, so the whipped cream and mint topping got nixed. Everyone said they tasted like alcoholic Shamrock Shakes. Which might be the best thing ever. In true derby fashion, all the ladies donned festive hats, the uglier the better.
Yes. Thats a hat with a flamingo on it, who is wearing a hat with a flamingo on it. Hatception? The virtual definition of meta? Either way, I think I won the hat game.
London made it her mission for the day to destroy my hat flamingo, hence the flamingo tilt. Some people just can’t handle their julep pudding shots! Peyton ran off with the girls from the neighborhood, and is missing from EVERY photo we took. We made up for her absence by taking family photos Sunday! I love evening photoshoots! The whole “chasing the light” vibe makes photos look soft and dreamy, so when our photographer emailed me with a cancelation, we jumped on it! Here is a mini preview:
