We had a very Merry Christmas, and we hope you did, too! On Christmas Eve, we headed across the state for my family’s annual party, and got back way too late – but were able to get to bed before Santa came!! We woke up Christmas morning, and opened our gifts. I think Peyton and London’s excitement was contagious, because Adaline was laughing and clapping all morning!
Around noon, all our immediate family came over, and we did the whole Christmas-morning-wrapping-paper-kerfluffle all over again, and after a popular vote, we watched Christmas Vacation and Home Alone.
And then it was time to eat. I decided to get crazy this year and make Christmas Crab, instead of our usual Honey Baked Ham. To say I was nervous would be an understatement. But it was a true Christmas miracle – the crab was delicious and nobody got sick! Yay! I baked my crab legs in cookie sheets at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, with a little bit of water in each tray, to steam the crab. In one dish, I poured melted butter over the legs. In the other, I poured melted butter and sprinkled red pepper flakes, which was the perfect, spicy addition! We also ate my famous pasta salad and my mom’s famous cheesy potatoes (that Dave was still eating after the girls went to bed last night!) – if anyone has a great recipe for leftover crab meat, please let me know! We have about a pound leftover!!
David surprised me with some pretty diamond earrings, a pretty plaid scarf, and the Moon Boots I had been obsessing over. I got him a fun pocket square and a lapel pin. Peyton and London got a bunch of Shopkins with a case to store them in, and coloring goodies. They got some fun play food for the play kitchen, too. Adaline was so happy with her new Little People bus and train popping toy. Addy didn’t get her white Christmas, since it’s been raining, but I would say, based on her big smile in the photo above, she enjoyed it!! I didn’t take many pictures, but I was caught up in the fun, and I think that’s how it should be!!
