We have a gorgeous collection of Christmas books for children, and enjoy adding new books each year. It is SO important to get kids reading, and what better way to excite and engage them than by setting out fun and festive books to correspond with the season!? I didn’t want to just link every book we own, or the trendy new releases on the cool instagram moms’ pages, I wanted to cut it down, so it wasn’t overwhelming. I also Quality over quantity! So buckle up, today I am sharing our 10 favorite Christmas books for children!
our 10 favorite Christmas books
the nutcracker // the christmas tree that grew // the last stop on the reindeer express // the night before christmas // snow sisters // one christmas wish // the little fir tree // tough cookie // jingle bugs // santa baby
Classic Christmas books for Children
Jingle Bugs will always be a favorite for us! It’s such an engaging book for little hands, since the book features pop-ups, and all kinds of bug fun! (it even plays music – and guys, this battery has lasted like 9 years ????????????
The Christmas Tree That Grew does not get the attention it deserves. THERE. I said it. This little golden book was my absolute favorite of mine growing up! This is such a fantastic Christmas story about a Christmas tree that grew through multiple apartment stories. It brings everyone together, and seeing how everyone decorated their portion of the tree was always a favorite of mine!
New This Year
We added to our collection of Christmas books for children this year! Santa Baby is a very cute story about Santa using magic to make himself younger, as he is exhausted and stressed out. It backfires, and you can guess the rest from the title! Santa Baby is funny, but it’s also super heartwarming, as Santa rediscovers the magic of Christmas through the eyes of a baby!
Snow Sisters is a new one for us this year, too! While this isn’t necessarily a “Christmas” book, it has a winter theme. This is a cute one for sisters, too! The illustrations are gorgeous, there isn’t much detail to the story, so the illustrations come in clutch. It’s about two sisters with different personalities, celebrating their individuality on a snowy winter day!
We also just added Tough Cookie to our library, and it quickly jumped onto our list of favorite Christmas books for children! This is a fun story about friendship! A hungry fox takes a bite of a not-so-tasty gingerbread man. The fox says yuck, and the gingerbread man is devastated. The two become unlikely friends. Giggles ensue! I enjoyed the pace of this children’s story (some can drag!!) and appreciated the humor.
