I am so excited to share this post with you today! When I purchased my Chanel Deauville tote before Spring Break, a lot of you guys noticed it on Insta, and asked where I found it, and asked how to find a great, authentic bag on Ebay! Today, I am sharing 3 helpful tips to buying a designer bag on Ebay!
1 Do your research
First off, know what bag you want, otherwise, you’re going to get overwhelmed. Familiarize yourself with the designer brand you’re looking for, as well as the bag style and color. For me, I knew I wanted a pink Chanel Deauville in a medium or large size. You can utilize the search feature at the top to type in the bag style, and filter results by color. That makes it easier (and less overwhelming!) to dig though!
Also, knowing what the brand retails brand new for can help make your decision. $100 off of retail for a used bag isn’t the deal of the century! Additionally, if a bag looks brand new and the price is too good to be true, be sure to check your seller’s ratings to make sure the bag is authentic! Research doesn’t apply solely to the bag! When you’re making a big purchase, it’s always a good idea to look into the seller. Make sure they have a great rating and recent, positive feedback from similar sales!
2 Pictures, Pictures, Pictures
I wouldn’t consider buying a designer bag on Ebay – or anything resale without seeing multiple photos first. If a user has a stock photo listed, be wary. I would request to see more photos or skip that listing altogether. In addition to the front of the bag, I like to see photos of the inside, the handles, the hardware (zippers, chains, logos, etc), and an authenticity card/code/tag. You can always message the seller and request they upload additional photos!
Now is the time to be picky AF – there’s a difference between a pre-loved bag and a damaged bag. My Chanel has noticeable signs of wear on the back (most likely from rubbing against dark wash denim), I decided that wasn’t a huge issue for me, since that doesn’t face outward and the price was fair.
3 Take advantage of the ‘Best Offer’ feature
Ebay typically lists items with Bidding options or Buy It Now prices. If you absolutely do not want to miss out on a sale, you may want to Buy It Now, and check out before it gets swiped from your cart – you also avoid getting into a stressful bidding war with another user! However, sometimes Ebay listings are posted with a feature called ‘Best Offer’ it’s not available on all listings, but it never hurts to try to make an offer! Sometimes you can snag a better deal.

A few notes: Ebay offers Authenticity Guarantee. That means Ebay will verify luxury handbags with independent industry experts. In any case of doubt, experts will inspect your item upon return. If the authenticity cannot be guaranteed, you will receive a full refund!

Great tips, Jenna! Do you have a favorite seller on eBay for good bags?
I don’t! I typically just search by bag, and then narrow it down by seller ratings, etc!
