It is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays, but it’s so important for us to stop, take a step back, and reflect on how thankful we are for what we have. It is so important for David and I to raise the girls with a sense of appreciation and gratitude.
For Addy and London, it can be hard to grasp the concept, which is why we love The Berenstain Bears and the Joy Of Giving! In The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Giving, Brother and Sister Bear start the story excited, thinking of all the gifts they’ll be getting for Christmas. As the story continues, they learn an important lesson – the joy and value of giving to others. Reading The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Giving to kick off December helps make the concept of giving back through donations and acts of services more relatable to the girls!
Our neighborhood works closely with a local shelter, to “adopt” families in December. We donate gifts, to give them a Christmas they otherwise wouldn’t have. The girls had a blast, helping to pick gifts for a newborn baby girl and her mother. We stocked a diaper bag full of some of helpful must-haves for bringing home a new baby.
