It seems like every single one of my girlfriends has decided to get pregnant lately – which gives me lots of newborns to snuggle and spoil! I love to think outside of the box with gifts, and to go beyond the traditional diaper cake for a new baby. I ditch the gift bag, and pack a diaper bag full of some essentials every new mom needs. Together, with Playtex Baby™, I’m sharing a fun DIY diaper bag gift idea that is sure to get your expecting friends off to a better beginning!
First, start with a fun bag. I like to look for a sale, so I can get one I know my friends will love. You also want to make sure you can find one that comes with a changing pad – not all do! You’ll also want to make sure it’s not too small, but also not too big. Nobody wants to lug one of those giant carseat carriers with a giant bag on the other arm.
Once you have your bag, the key to tie it all in is to pick a color palette. I came across the cutest baby booties, and went from there. I managed to find a bib that is a similar shade of red. She is having a little girl, so I found adorable bloomers. These easily slide on over a onesie for a stress-free outfit that looks a lot more put together than it is (new moms all around the world can rejoice!).
No baby gift would be complete without a little toy. I like to find fun wooden toys, since I know new moms get bombarded with toys and blankets from big box stores at their showers. This ball toy is so cool, and I might have played with it for a good five minutes between packing it away 🙂
Another essential would be some baby-friendly toiletries. In this case, I went with an organic brand’s travel kit, which perfectly slides into diaper bags for on-the-go messes.
I topped this gift off with a three pack of Playtex Baby™ VentAire® bottles. These Playtex BPA Free Baby Bottles are designed to reduce colic. I love that you have the option to mix and match Playtex Bottles and Nipples to find your baby’s unique preference! The box says: Tummy Comfort, and that’s enough for me! Luckily, none of my girls had colic, and I wouldn’t wish that upon anyone, so I love that these bottles feature a unique bottom vent designed to keep air at back of the bottle and out of baby’s tummy. The way they are angled also helps to prevent ear infections!
The best part? These bottles can be picked up in your weekly Target run, since you were headed there already! You can save with these Cartwheel offers, too:
- Cartwheel Offer #1: Save 10% on all Playtex Baby Bottles on Cartwheel at Target (valid 4/9-4/15): http://cbi.as/7j9fp
- Cartwheel Offer #2: Save 15% on all Playtex Baby Bottles on Cartwheel at Target (valid 4/16-4/22): http://cbi.as/7j9fu
Playtex also has other great bottle styles, so be sure to check out the Playtex Baby™ Nurser® with Drop-Ins® Liners, which simulates the same suck, swallow and breathe patterns as breastfeeding!
For bonus points, add a small bouquet of fresh flowers, and voila! You’re sure to be the hit of the shower with an essential-packed gift like this! Happy gifting!!
