My father-in-law remarried this weekend, in our backyard. It was a beautiful, low-key, and very emotional ceremony. Both he and Sharon had experienced loss of a spouse, and then found solace and happiness in each other. The morning started off extremely cold and rainy, but the skies cleared, and the sun even poked its way through the clouds for the ceremony. It was a small ceremony, and it was so fun to watch Peyton and London run around with their new cousins. Dave’s sister and my brother don’t have kids yet, so they haven’t had a real “cousin experience”. Peyton was so excited to have a “really bigger family!” – she did have a small meltdown when she found out she wasn’t the flower girl (a. there was no flower girl, and b. in her defense, every wedding she’s attended, she’s been the flower girl!)
We dodged raindrops as Dave grilled for everybody after the ceremony. The cutest part, was after everyone left around 3pm. Peyton disappeared into her room, and came out with her PJs on, and asked if I could read her a story before bed. It was definitely a long day for everybody.
We are definitely thanking God for his goodness!
