Dave and I have made a huge effort to “date” each other! We schedule date nights each month, and it’s amazing to connect with each other as a couple vs being “mom and dad”!! Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, so loooove is in the air all around, but date night doesn’t have to involve rushing downtown to get to the crowded restaurant in time for your reservation! If you can’t get a sitter, or that’s not an option, I thought it would be fun to share a few of our favorite at-home date night ideas… that you can do in the middle of winter!
5 At-Home Date Night Ideas
A game night! Pop some champagne, grab a cheeseboard, and your favorite board games for a guaranteed fun evening! (head to the bottom for a few of our favorite games!)
DIY spa night! I love when Dave will do a sheet mask or his very favorite eye gels with me! We play relaxing spa music on Alexa, and then one of us begs for a back massage 😂😂
Plan a vacation! Now, this can get expensive fast but you don’t have to book anything! Often, Dave and I will cuddle up, and browse tropical destinations, luxury hotels, or pig beaches. We’ve made quite a bucket list!!
Make dinner together! Now, if your man is a cook, then you’re out for this one. Dave is rarely in the kitchen, but it’s always so funny when he is! Add some wine, and you’re sure to have a blast!
Do a puzzle! Dave and I love doing puzzles together!! We get competitive trying to find pieces quicker than the other can!
At-Home Date Night Favorites
We have a few favorite games that we reach for time and time again. Shop them below:
bulls eye ball // eye gels // champagne flutes // barefoot dreams blanket // beat that // quarto // cards against humanity // crystals puzzle // battle of the sexes // chess set
Games like Battle of the Sexes need more people, so it’s the perfect opportunity to turn your at-home date night into a double date, and invite some friends over!
Dave and I play chess a lot together — and I’ve even won a handful of times. Ok, I think it was twice 😂 But still! It’s a fun way to spend a low-key evening vs mindlessly scrolling our phones from two separate chairs!
Another “thinking” game we play is Quarto! Dave actually bought this from a Facebook ad, I think!! But it’s turned into a favorite!! It’s like four in a row, but with a little more strategy. Games are short, and it’s addicting!
Beat That! is another hilarious game! You basically play a bunch of “minute to win it” style games. We actually play with with the kids a lot, but it would be another fun one for an at-home date night!
Are you going out for Valentine’s Day, or staying in this year?
