Shackets made their debut last Fall/Winter, but I didn’t jump on the trend then. I wasn’t a fan of the silhouette and I don’t like corduroy (and lots were cord shackets). This Fall, shackets have more of a “peacoat” vibe, and I am loving the fit! Today, I am sharing how to style a shacket — and this happens to be my favorite way! BUT FIRST!!! Let’s talk about WHAT a shacket is:
Ok, now that we know what a shacket is, let’s jump into how to style a shacket!
How to style a shacket
I posted this Reels video to Instagram, sharing 2 fun examples of how to style a shacket:

Today, I paired my favorite black bodycon dress with tall boots. 2020 Jenna would have paired this outfit with a chunky, oversized cardigan, but 2021 Jenna reaches for a cute, cropped shacket. I am rotating between two shackets I love, and they’re both from Apricot Lane Boutique!

I opted for a cropped shacket to play with the proportions of this outfit. Since the dress was form-fitting, and the tall boots were slouchy, I liked the “volume” the cropped style shacket added to this look.
These boots are from the Nordstrom Sale, and I have already gotten a ton of wear out of them! They’re marked 40% off right now, too!! So RUN and snag these tall suede boots while you can. I ordered my regular size, and this color is “sesame” — it looks more silver on Nordstrom’s site, but it’s more of a chalky taupe in person. They go with everything!!
Another great way to rock a shacket is over a basic tee (or a fun graphic tee) and distressed jeans for faux leather leggings. Shackets are great transitional pieces for this weird “in between” weather! Layer a shacket over a dress, like I did, or pair it with cut off shorts and a basic tee and ankle booties or sneakers for a more casual look!
