This weekend was chock-full of Halloween and fall fun! We had a quiet Friday night to prep for the craziness, and I am so glad we did, since the girls were exhausted by Sunday night. Saturday morning, after Peyton’s soccer game, we headed to Zoo Goes Boo, where our local zoo goes all out for Halloween! There were a ton of trick-or-treating stations, festive decor, and plenty of games for the kids. We went with a big group, and I think the adults were all worn our by the end, after trying to keep up with the kids. It was a chilly day, but a lot of the animals were still out, so that a blast for London especially!
When we got home, the little ones napped, and Peyton and I set to work carving pumpkins. I think one of my favorite Halloween traditions is a very underrated one – roasting the seeds. I remember growing up, how my mom, brother, and I would gut the pumpkin, and pick out the seeds as my dad carved one of his famous designs. Our pumpkin was always the coolest on the block, but Jarred and I were definitely not allowed to help with the carving part, it was my dad’s masterpiece 😉
I even had time to get the finishing touches on our Halloween costumes AND get the goodie bags for our trick-or-treaters all ready! I am so excited for Friday, which is our neighborhood’s big, Halloween party, and also our family costume reveal!!
Sunday, after a morning of watching football, we headed over to our friends’ house for the last boat ride of the year. It was a perfect day, with no other boat traffic. The leaves were beautiful and then… the boat died. So there we were, outnumbered by children, floating toward a dock and a seawall. Remember how perfect I said it was that there was no other boat traffic? That would have been nice right about now. We were able to drop the anchor and float until we were able to flag down another boat – I was kind of bummed, since we were moments away from busting out some flares! Joking, kind of. We made it back to their house, thanks to the kind strangers who towed us in! Good thing our last ride was a memorable one!!
