In true McFarland spirit, we have an action-packed weekend planned for the Fourth of July; involving a beach day, mini golf, potential a trip to a tulip park, river days, the parade, and of course, the fireworks!
I’ll be making red, white, and blue pancakes, since those are our big treat for the morning before the parade! I separate the batter into 3 parts, and add red and blue food coloring to two of them. Cook, stack, serve – simple and festive! If you’re looking for another easy treat, try my firecracker popcorn or this easy layered pudding snack:
Simply make three boxes of pudding according to package directions, add blue and red food coloring to two of them. Start with a base of crushed Oreos or vanilla wafers, then layer your colors, and top with more cookie crumbs!
If you’re kitchen-savvy, you could attempt this pie, too. Spoiler alert: I definitely will not be making the flag pie again 😉
And, how could a Fourth of July post be complete without a look back at last year, or this gem of tiny Peyton, celebrating her first Fourth: So we’ve got food and actives covered, now it’s festive outfit planning!! I’ve been obsessed with chambray on the girls all summer, so I have some fun ideas planned. Here is a bit of patriotic insp. for your littles:
baby set | headband | chambray bubble | sunnies | romper | similar swimsuit | red flats | blue swing dress | chambray bloomers
My friends at June & January are still running their $19 swing dress sale, so it’s a great time to stock up! If you have a little boy, be sure to check out the lounge shorts and the hoodie jumper!
As for me, I have my eye on this chambray tier dress at Target and this fun, off-the-shoulder chambray dress, toss on some red flip flops, and BOOM. Festive.
I hope you all enjoy your holiday weekend, and stay safe – don’t nobody got time for roman candle burns! 🙂
