Happy Spring and Happy Easter week! You know how I get around holidays, and Easter is one of my favorites. This week, I will be filling the house with fresh flowers, and putting my finishing touches on the girls’ baskets. We are going to a champagne brunch this year at our country club, which means I don’t have to cook a ham 😉 After, we are coming back, where I have a fun egg hunt planned for Peyton and Lo in the backyard.
I remember waking up as a child, and running downstairs to find our Easter baskets on the table. I remember racing my brother to crack open all our plastic eggs, so excited to see what was stashed inside. My mom was pretty creative – we didn’t just get eggs filled with candy (probably for her own sanity!). We would have little toys, stickers, and I’m sure she found a way to stuff a toothbrush in there! (I think I’ve mentioned before that our Christmas stockings consisted of a toothbrush and toothpaste every year, and one year, I even got a roll of travel toilet paper. Santa is always so practical!)
In true “do it way early, or else I’ll forget” fashion, I put the girls’ baskets together this morning, and just have a few finishing touches to add throughout the week (like these cute initial balloons).
I remembered seeing a post on Pinterest last year (after Easter, of course), about non-traditional baskets. It sounded like a fun challenge, and when I saw these wire baskets at H&M, I knew they’d be perfect! I also love how these plastic eggs coordinated!
When you have three kids, they have to get some of the same things, otherwise Easter morning becomes less about the Resurrection and more about a toddler fist fight (insert an eye roll here), so each girl is getting one of these unique stuffed bunnies!
Peyton has been begging me for a growth chart (of all things?), so she’ll get getting one along with a magnetic dress-up doll (so much more durable than paper dolls!). Peyton is also my little accessory hoarder queen, so she’s getting this adorable necklace! In some of her eggs, there are hair clips, mini play dough, and Frozen nail polish. Of course, she is still getting a Peep lollipop, jelly beans, and mini M&Ms!
London is getting a festive bunny cup – fully aware this will probably leak all over the place. Anything in the name of holidays! She is getting a Peep Lollipop and mini M&Ms (although I’ll probably end up eating those!). I wanted to make sure her eggs were full of fun, age-appropriate goodies, so Lo is getting a Little People bunny, which will match her little sets (she’s obsessed with the airplane!). Her other egg stuffers are: fruit snacks, a pair of socks (which will probably end up as mittens for the rest of the day!), and hair clips. She’s also getting a bubble wand (from the Target Dollar Spot), a cute bubble ice cream cone, and a kazoo!
Adaline’s was hands-down the hardest basket to fill. She’s too little to actually play with toys, and she definitely can’t eat candy. Although, I’m sure big sister London will be more than happy to share her lollipop with her! She’s getting a few little eggs filled with practical baby things; she’s getting our favorite baby booties and a floral headband! She is also getting a pack of Neat Cheeks wipes, they’re total life-savers! I’ll be taking them from her basket and stuffing them right into my purse – I never go anywhere without them!
When I had Peyton, my mom gave me BAGS upon BAGS of things from when I was a baby. Like a super-precious-but-extremely-out-of-date knit outfit and blanket (complete with matching bonnet) and tons of books. Peyton was obsessed with the handful of Disney Baby Mickey books my mom passed down. They have very small sentences on each page, so a) it’s not a tedious read, and b) you can read a page before your toddler slams it closed or turns the page on you! Bonus points for them being basically indestructible board books! Since these books were straight out of the 80s, I went to Ebay to try to complete our collection – and to my surprise, I was able to snag 15 of them for less than $8! Adaline and London will each be receiving a few of these books in their baskets!
A few other Easter egg fillers that are both age-appropriate and not candy would be Annie’s cheddar bunnies, these minimalistic princess temporary tattoos, Little People character sets (might require you to buy bigger eggs like this one!), or seed packets for your kiddos to start their own mini garden (you could piggy-back off this idea and fill additional eggs with gardening gloves and sub a planter or watering can for the basket!! Toooootally wish I didn’t just think of this! Someone please do it and send me a photo!). Some more “boyish” ideas would be hot wheels cars or these Star Wars tattoos!
What are your go-to egg fillers?

Oh! I love the baskets you found! WIll you re-use them next year, or are you re-purposing them around the house? They could hold blankets! Also, those princess tattoos on Etsy that you linked are seriosuly the cutest! they’re not so girly and cheesy! I saved the shop for them to be party favors for my toddler’s birthday this summer!! Thanks!

If the girls will give them up, i’d love to use them around the the house! They’re not quite big enough for blankets, but they’d be perfect for toys and baby blankets 😉

These are adorable! I’ve seen a few people do wire baskets like this this year and last year! they’re so much more fun than the old school baskets (and you can fit more in them 😉 )

Hers were some that were rounded up on the “non-traditional” Pinterest board! So fun to think outside the box. I’m already thinking of ideas for next year 🙂
