Dave has been away for work for the past week, so I am flying’ solo…which means I have been severely outnumbered by little McFarlands. In true worst-case-scenario fashion, it’s rained every.single.day. Which means we’ve been confined to the house. Save for a quick trip to Target with Lo and Addy, while Peyton as at school. Pushing a cart full of kids through 25 mile per hour winds and rain is no joke. The thunder one night woke the dogs and the girls up throughout the night – but it’s not like Addy was sleeping anyway 😉 Laundry has piled up, and wishing my hair has hit an all new level of unachievable.
Here is how the week has gone.
Five. Five is the number of days London wore her one-size-too-big rainboots throughout the house. On her feet, on her hands, wherever. Five is also the number of times she threw a temper tantrum at night before bed, and you guessed it: five is also the number of nights I had to put her to bed with her rainboots on.
Four. The number of nights it took me to binge watch the first two seasons of Gossip Girl after Peyton and London went to bed. Four is also the number of times I caught Peyton taking selfies with the filters on Snapchat.
Three. The number of times we called or texted Dave, asking him to come home early, then assuring him that we’ve totally got this.
Two. The number of times London tackled me, while yelling, “teeeef!” at the top of her lungs and shoving her finger in my mouth…while I was changing Adeline’s diaper. Also the number of children I had in my arms at any given moment.
One. The number of times I got up to pee, leaving Lo and Addy alone. One is also the number of times I had to perform an emergency afternoon bath, on account of London painting Adaline with milk. If you guessed these two events are related, give yourself a celebratory glass of wine.
And you know what? Pour me one, too.
But really. Cheers to husbands who have another set of arms to carry the extra kid that’s whining on the floor. Cheers to pre-school (who occupied Peyton for the majority of the week). Cheers to all the single moms, who do this for real life. Because it’s no joke. And cheers to the freakin’ weekend!
