Last week, I mentioned I was going to attempt this pie I found on Pinterest. Well, I did it. I’m calling it a win. In true Pinterest-attempt fashion, it’s like the less attractive little sister, but hey – looks are only half! All that matters is that it tastes good!!
The recipe can be found here. You can see some progress photos of my pie below!
I used a knife to make the flag shape – it was actually a lot easier than I thought. If I did it again, I would make these thicker! I placed my pie on a tray, per my mom’s suggestion. Apparently pies tend to leak in the oven. I also put aluminum foil on top of the other baking sheet, so nothing got baked on/would take an eternity to clean!
And the finished product:
I couldn’t be happier. It’s actually my first attempt at making a pie, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out. However, I would also add more stars to my “crust”.
I’m going to be busy in the kitchen today! I’m making a pasta salad, a potato salad, and dirt pudding (my favorite)! I cannot wait for the parade tomorrow morning, and of course the fireworks in the evening. Monday we are heading up north for a few days on a big, inland lake! So fun to be doing “Michigan Summer” to the max!!
Happy early Fourth of July!!
